Importance of a Permission to Administer Medication Form for Daycare 

A medication permission form for daycare is extremely important for many reasons. The main reason may be that if you use any of these medicines or products on a child without permission, you could be liable for any injuries or reactions that occur. 

For example, if a child in your daycare center has a rash and you provide them with itching cream without the parents' permission, the child could have an allergic reaction from the cream. You could be fired from your position or even face legal consequences if the parents press charges. 

Form templates like the one provided here are essential. They provide documentation of parental consent to help prevent these scenarios from happening. 

If parents don’t complete the form on the first day their child starts daycare, stay on the safe side — don’t provide the child with any of these products or medications. Many horror stories on the news describe situations where infant and child deaths have occurred because no medication form documentation was completed by the parents. You'll want to do everything you can to avoid those scenarios. 

Before their children begin attending your daycare center, maintain consistent communication with parents to ensure that they return the permission to administer medication form for daycare as soon as possible.
